She would do things the right way, her way, with heart and mother’s intuition. “I took my 10-year-old Nikon camera out of a dumpster in the garage, put some waves in the girls’ hair, applied some blush and we went out to take some pictures,” the mother says.

As the days passed, his symptoms worsened over the next few weeks and, on October 30, doctors gave him the frightening diagnosis: a rare and aggressive cancer called T-cell leukemia/acute lymphoblastic lymphoma. “That’s when,” says Clements, 39, “everything changed.” While Kevin is currently undergoing this second of twelve rounds of chemotherapy, he and his family are on a desperate – and hopeful – search for a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Little could they have imagined that salvation was closer than expected.
