Jake and I headed back to our room, wondering if we would see Karen again. She appeared determined as she crossed her arms. “I’m still attempting to resolve this confusion,” she said. How near she had come! “Why don’t we just unwind in your room for the time being?” I suggested gently. She exhaled, appearing to finally take a break from the chase, but she was still unhappy.

Momentary Quiet
Jake and I felt somewhat safer back in our suite. For the time being, Karen’s condition appeared to be quiet. Seeking light, we switched on the television and made an effort to forget about ourselves. “She’ll most likely cool down soon,” Jake said hopefully. Although we were both familiar with Karen, we wanted to make this evening more peaceful before things descended into anarchy once more.
