Sarah had no idea of the seriousness of the situation and wanted above all to make sure her new pet was safe. She played with her fingers and focused her attention more on the animal than on the worried faces of the adults. “I hope it’s all right,” she whispered. Jane gave her a reassuring smile, but there was a shadow of worry in her eyes. “It’s going to be okay, sweetie,” she said, patting Sarah’s head. Despite the tension, Sarah’s innocent desire to see her pet well kept everyone grounded.

The DNA analysis was completed, but brought more questions than answers. Emily explained: “The results are inconclusive, but they point to something ancient.” Jane frowned in confusion. “Ancient? How old?” Emily sighed, unsure how to convey the complexity of the situation. “It’s unlike any modern species we know. We’d need further analysis to be sure,” she said, and there was clear concern in her voice. The lack of clarity only added to the family’s anxiety and raised even more questions.
