As Jonah drove along the long, dusty road, his attention was caught by a small, gray figure standing motionless in the middle of the path. It was a baby rhino, looking confused and fragile against the barren backdrop. Concern washed over him; perhaps it had strayed too far from its herd. Thinking quickly, Jonah slowed his truck to a gentle stop and stepped out, intent on helping the young creature get to safety. But the closer he walked, the more he realized something was off. The little rhino didn’t behave like a lost animal—it barely moved, as if frozen in uncertainty. Jonah’s instincts stirred uneasily, and when he looked into its wide, glassy eyes, a chill ran down his spine. It made no sense—young rhinos rarely wandered without their mothers, who were known to stay fiercely protective. “Where’s your family, little one?” Jonah murmured, scanning the dry plains on either side. His eyes searched for movement—perhaps the flick of an ear in the grass, or the shadow of a larger shape nearby—but there was nothing but stillness. The emptiness pressed against him, making the whole scene feel eerily staged, as though the baby’s presence there was part of something he couldn’t yet understand.
