Reassuring Jacob
Jacob’s little legs swung back and forth, his restlessness growing by the minute. I bent down and whispered softly in his ear, hoping to ease his agitation. “Hey, buddy, how about we count the clouds together?” I suggested, offering a distraction. His eyes lit up at the idea, and he nodded eagerly, turning his gaze to the window. Keeping him calm was all that mattered now. I could only hope this drawn-out flight ordeal would soon come to an end.

Brenda’s Firm Stance
Despite all our coaxing, Brenda finally declared with a stubborn tilt of her jaw, “I’m not moving. This is my seat now.” Her defiant tone seemed to reverberate through the silent cabin. Karen glanced at me, her expression reflecting the unspoken understanding of what this meant. I let out a weary sigh, wishing I could find the perfect words to change Brenda’s mind. But her refusal left us at an impasse, right back where we started, with no clear solution in sight.
