Nervous Glances
I looked at my spouse anxiously as we sat there. As we saw Jake go closer to the lioness, our pulses were pounding. Do you believe he has this? I muttered. With his gaze fixed on the spectacle, my spouse shrugged. It was like to watching a movie that you couldn’t take your eyes off of, despite your fear of what was going to happen. Even though everyone around us appeared to be just as uncertain as we were, we were unable to turn away.

Jake hesitated for a second, his eyes narrowing at something that was out of our line of sight. He muttered, more to himself than to us, “She doesn’t look right.” The lioness moved slowly, almost laboriously. “You see that?” My husband pointed discreetly and muttered. I gave a nervous nod. We were all worried because Jake seemed to be feeling uneasy, like he was trying to solve a riddle. Was his bluster taking over, or was this a terrible sign?
