Comfort In Absence
I had more energy as I drove home. Scott’s absence seemed reassuring rather than intimidating. There were now opportunities in the area he had left. I felt the comfort of home as soon as I walked through the door. Instead of being a meaningless reminder of a broken promise, it was a sanctuary. The children were occupied with their own world and not distracted by adult matters. It was a significant discovery for me to know that I could build stability.

Movie Night With Kids
Our movie night ritual of buttered popcorn filled the air that night. As we watched their favorite animated movie, I cuddled up to the kids on the couch and we laughed. “Mom, pass the popcorn!” Lily yelled as she grabbed the dish. It seemed like a gentle landing to be together, just the two of us. Despite everything outside, every chuckle and glance back and forth was a comfort, a reminder that here was home, full of fun and love.
