Locating My Seat on the Plane

Discovering My Seat Aboard Entering with a curt nod to the attendant near the doorway, I scanned for row markers above. From the front of the plane, a cart rattled as an attendant locked drawers in place for takeoff. I moved beyond two pairs of passengers jostling for armrest control and halted at the subsequent section. A gentle, uniform light illuminated the rows of seats around me. Behind me, a window shade shot up with a sharp snap. I checked my boarding pass one more time and found myself correctly aligned with my row.

Putting My Bag in the Overhead Bin

Shoving My Bag Into Overhead Storage Spots in the overhead bins near my seat remained available, so I stretched up and heaved my bag upward. A fellow traveler sitting across the aisle adjusted his jacket to squeeze my bag’s wheels into position. The latch snapped shut, and I eased the panel down until it clicked securely. Passengers behind me nudged onward, eagerly scanning for empty sections above them. The aisle constricted with backpacks and elbows as groups examined their seat assignments. I shifted back into my spot to allow the crowd to move past.
