He began the meeting with his characteristic overconfidence, acting as if nothing unusual had happened. “Alright, team,” he said, clapping his hands with forced enthusiasm. “Let’s talk game plans!” His demeanor suggested the recent events were insignificant, brushing them off as minor inconveniences. The disconnect was palpable. Some of us exchanged uneasy glances while others pretended to be engaged. It felt like watching someone parade in summer attire during a snowstorm—completely out of place.

The irony of his speech was almost laughable—preaching teamwork after everything he’d put me through felt painfully insincere. I nodded along, unwilling to stand out or reveal what I truly felt. His words drifted around the room, empty and devoid of any genuine connection.
