Reaching Ethan’s side
Just as Ethan was beginning to lose consciousness, the boat caught up with him. “He’s fading! We have to act fast!” shouted one of the crew, as the waves threatened to drag him under, his fingers barely holding onto his life jacket. “Hang on, Ethan, hang on!” cried Clair, her voice full of desperation. She saw his eyes flicker, struggling to stay focused. Without hesitation, Clair jumped into the water, crossing the raging waves until she reached Ethan. Hooking her arm around him, she shouted to the team, “I’ve got him! Pull us in!” With strength and determination, Clair kept Ethan afloat while the team threw a life jacket around him. United by effort, the crew pulled them both back into the boat, their hands bruised and blistered, but the relief of saving Ethan outweighed any pain.

With a combined effort, the team hoisted Ethan onto the boat, carefully laying him on the deck as he gasped, trying to catch his breath. “Ethan, buddy, are you with us?” asked an anxious crew member, leaning down next to him. Ethan coughed, struggling to clear his throat, and nodded slightly, his chest heaving as he pulled the salty air into his lungs. “Yeah… I’m fine,” he muttered, his voice hoarse and weak from exhaustion. Wrapped in a warm blanket, he began to regain his color, his eyes filled with gratitude as he stared at his rescuers.
