This time, Mark didn’t even have the chance to calm Erika down. The door suddenly opened and a new agent appeared, introducing himself as Agent Daniels. “Ms. Johnson, please follow me,” he said firmly. Erika’s eyes widened, confused and frightened. “What? Me? Why?” she asked, but the agent simply repeated himself, with the same determined tone. Erika realized she had no choice – she took a deep breath, cast one last glance at Mark and slowly stood up, preparing herself for whatever came next.

Hours later, Erika and Mark were finally reunited. They had both undergone an intense interrogation, during which, to their surprise, it became clear that the police suspected that they themselves might be behind the mysterious hole. They answered all questions honestly, denying any involvement, and although there was no evidence against them, the police decided to let them return home – but warned that they would remain under surveillance until the real culprit was identified.
