A demand for clarity
Dad’s expression darkened when we asked him to explain. His words were tinged with annoyance as he remarked, “You just don’t see the bigger picture.” His justifications were ambiguous, leaving us perplexed and frustrated. “Why now, Dad?” Why this place? I pushed for responses, but none ever materialized. However, he continued to focus on his complaints, and it was obvious that this discussion would center on his unresolved previous issues.

A Demand For Clarity
The need for honesty
Dad sighed deeply, a breath full of things he didn’t say. He said, “We really need to talk.” Once more, we found ourselves in a circle. Desperate for anything more than words, I felt like I was backed into a corner. For once, can’t we simply be honest? I answered. I could see by the look in his eyes that he had more to say, but he refrained, leaving me hanging.
